We celebrate our volunteers
April 21, 2026
National Volunteer Week (April 19-25) is a time to recognize and celebrate both FST’s volunteers and the millions of Canadians who contribute to building stronger and more inclusive communities every day.
FST was started over 100 years ago by a group of volunteers who came together as the Neighbourhood Workers Association. Their mission was to address the growing levels of poverty faced by many families in the city. Volunteering is more than an act of service; it is a demonstration of values.
Our volunteers are the very best of who we are and what we do at FST: working to strengthen individuals, families, and communities to achieve greater resilience, stability, and equity.
Since January, our volunteers have contributed over 200 hours of service. We have volunteers supporting various programs; our Walk-In Clinic, Healthy Families Healthy Communities, Person-Directed Planning, Options, Human Resources and more.
Members of FST’s Board of Directors are also volunteers who provide strategic guidance and their professional expertise to ensure accountability for resources and results and that we remain true to our vision, mission and values.
Thank you to our amazing volunteers! The moments you share with our clients, communities and staff make a profound difference.
